Westland Police Department

Officers handle all law enforcement in the city, from traffic stops to major crimes. When they arrest someone, the person is held briefly at the station before transfer to Wayne County.

The police department can confirm if they made a recent arrest. But for current jail status, you need to check with Wayne County. The police do not control who stays or goes at the county jail.

Westland Jail Roster FOIA Requests

Under Michigan's Freedom of Information Act, jail records are public. MCL 15.231 makes clear that government records are open to the public. MCL 15.233 requires you to describe the records you want in writing. The agency has five business days to respond, with a possible ten-day extension for large requests.
